The strategy was technically born in the Doom series, which pioneered online play for FPS games. However, it was immortalized by the Quake franchise, which refined concepts like the now-ubiquitous deathmatch and team deathmatch game modes that shaped competitive online shooters for decades to come.
Tim Willits, who left id in July after a year tenure, told Rolling Stone in that while camping was present in Doom , it was the original Quake and Quake 3 Arena that popularized the term and strategy. The term would be forever etched in the annals of gaming with the release of Quake 3 Arena. From then on, camping became a go-to tactic for players trying to dominate their opponents in Quake 3 Arena.
Players posted guides for each map of the game, one published in on the games forum Neoseeker makes multiple references to camping as both a viable plan and an annoyance. Dumb campers sit in corners the whole match ADSing on the only entrance. So basically, most people are angry with dumb campers because they can be cheap, and there's nothing wrong with that.
But that's still the tip of the iceberg. You don't see people complaining so much about dumb rushers with 0. Best eyes on Gamefaqs. User Info: McCHitman. I don't like camping because it's boring. In TDM camping sucks to people who keep getting killed by the same person because they aren't smart enought o realize that "Hey that guy just killed me 3 times. From the same spot But on the other hand, MOST of the objective game modes pretty much endorse camping.
Thats why I hate them so much. Demoliton- As soon as 1 target is gone, its a camp fest CTF Campfest Search Campfest so on and so on User Info: koolbeanz I would rather the term: Snipers.
Even in war, do you think people really ran around hopping from rooftop to rooftop killing everything in sight? It's not meant to be completely realistic. If you want realism, play Operation Flashpoint on Hardcore mode.
Sleepovers are generally a bad idea. There are good, wholesome alternatives to sleepovers that still allow your children to have fun while keeping them safe. Going to a sleepover may raise the risk for a child to be sexually abused. Educated parents are the best ones to decide if a sleepover is appropriate for their child. You can eliminate the risk by not allowing a sleepover. Or, if you choose to have sleepovers, there are some things you should think through.
Helpful tips. Why campers are hated? Why is game Camping bad? Are snipers campers? Why is camping frowned upon? What is bad about camping? What should you not do while camping? That's probably one reason. A great deal of CS players can't even dirve let alone own a firearm. I play like I was trained as a soldier in the Army and as a Military Police officer.
Pie wedge the corners, always seek good cover when possible, work as a squad unit, lay down covering fire for teammates although that's pointless as most CS players simply charge into the firefight with little regard to dying, unlike in real life when you lay down suppressive fire with an M or SAW when they cross danger-zones and all in all, camp like a bitch and pick your shots wisely. That's how I like to play too. When I'm at LAN parties we usually try to do that. Unfortunately it's almost impossible over the internet, and to do it right you need fair number of people.
I usually don't have the most kills but I have a good frag to death ratio. Aenygma Platinum Member. Mar 21, 2, 1 0. Quake kicks arse! JoeKing Lifer. Oct 9, 10, 1 What pisses me off about campers and this is the only time I use the term is when there is a situation like 1 on 1 and both players are just sitting there waiting for each other.
While 30 players watch on in boredom. Or When the bomb has been planted and the last CT's refuse to move and just sit there. I could go on and on, but now I've got the urge to play a little CS Oct 18, 4, 0 0. I don't like camping because it's boring. Sure it might make more sense in real life to hold back and find a nice spot, but it isn't real life. You haven't seen boring until you've been in a 32 player game of dust where everyone camps.
Pretender Banned. Mar 14, 7, 0 0. If you are a CT on a hostage map and you camp your spawn point, you are not actively working to win. All you're doing is sitting for 5 minutes, pissing everyone off, and hoping that the entire team will eventually walk into your sight. If you do it as a T after planting a bomb, or as a T near the hostages, fine. Camping is supposed to be a surprise to the enemy, not to show off that your AWP skills are better than the enemy's long range mp5 skills.
I know this seems unreasonable, but it's a GAME, not real war, and should be treated as such. AdamDuritz99 Diamond Member. Mar 26, 3, 0 I can't stand it when there is one guy left on each team and they both camp. Or when CTs camp on hostage maps and Ts on bomb maps.
It just pisses people off and waists time.
