Coldplay why 42

He thinks that life on earth is too short, there must be something after the death, another life. He was on the way to heaven, but the speaker is sure that he didn't get there.

Maybe that's why the speaker is thinking about 'those who are dead'. I saw the incredible coincidence the day they played in Abu Dhabi, on earth day, march 28, The universe is in agreement not only with what they are doing but what they are singing.

No one believes me but the lyrics to this song are from a spirit, in fact all the songs in the viva la vida cd were channelled. Something is going to happen in or May God have mercy on all of us. The previous interpretation of Coldplay's "42" is "dead" on. If anyone's done any reading on the Schizoid personality, one realizes that the "thought" never feeling is the they are dead, invisible, a ghost. Most relationships in a Schizoid's life are experienced as if they are dead.

Interesting song. I feel for my friend whom I've just realized is schizoid. Excellet song! Login Register Login with Facebook. All lyrics are property and copyright of their owners. Could be completely unrelated, but seems like a fascinating coincidence either way, especially given that Japan is already mentioned on the album The song is about death, so it makes sense that they would sneakily name it death.

General Comment I think the speaker when he says "those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head" means people who've died but who he still thinks about. They are all memories. And he is falling for that spell because he isn't living a full life. All he's thinking about is death. Don't understand the ghost part, but maybe this is how he resolves it. He will just be a ghost so he won't have to miss out on anything, but he made it close to heaven because he was good legoman on June 07, Link.

General Comment Just a personal application probably, but I see the song beginning in Hell narrated by the devil who "fell for the spell" of sin. Then it moves to purgatory with the chord progression and tempo change, a place that's not heaven but where the potential to rise there is possible. Finally Chris speaks for God repeating the same line from the beginning but with a hopeful sounding end falsetto, as if he is speaking for Heaven, a mystery. Completely out of left field, but precisely what I see.

Are you in seminary? Do you think he they might have just wrote the song withoug any religous undertones? He doesn't speak for "God". Give me a break! Luna on March 17, That's an interesting way of looking at it Plus, they wouldn't be living in their 'heads' right? Neovincci, I think you are actually pretty "dead on" in terms of Martin's thinking.

Sorry I think he was in classical greek and latin studies - all largely influenced by religious texts though General Comment I personally didn't think Coldplay could surprise me any more on this album after i heard Viva La Vida.

This album is sooooo good! This song is just one of the high points on what is a fantastic album. You didn't get to heaven, but you made it close You didn't get to heaven, but you made it close You thought you might be a ghost! Mikael Wood from Spin praised the track's experimentalism, reviewing: "Even when they're not looking beyond the borders of home, they do satisfyingly weird things to their music, as in "42", which starts out in plaintive piano-ballad mode, then transforms without notice into a juddering psych-punk jam.

Building into skittering electronica with searing guitars before running away into a surprisingly joyous chorus, this was proof alone that Coldplay's bold reinvention have given them plenty of life yet. Coldpedia, the Coldplay Wiki Explore. Safety E. Top Users DXM Explore Wikis Community Central.
